Quick Giveaway!

It's almost 2011, can you believe it? I am getting ready by setting some resolutions, and cleaning my studio space (the better to make new work in!). Perhaps you need a little calendar to help you ring in the new year? This little postcard sized calendar has a digital print of my "Beard Love" print on the reverse, so when you are done with 2011, you'll still have a fun beardy image to enjoy in 2012.

Just to say thanks for reading my blog, I wanted to give a few of these calender cards away, as a thank you to my readers. The next 10 people to email me their shipping addresses will get a free postcard calendar! I'll make a little note here when the giveaway is over :) Good luck! Done! Congrats to the ten winners! Thanks to everyone who wrote in :)

Also:

Slowly re-opening my shop today! Adding more prints and things at first, will start selling beards again by Jan 1. Lots of news about that to come, but more importantly, STAY TUNED tomorrow for a time sensitive giveaway!

Loving this honest Abe print by CRAFTsvcs. I saw it on a shirt while I was doing my holiday shopping, now I'm really wishing I'd bought it for myself. Really digging the subtle color fade, too.

Great t-shirt from zastople.

I forgot to tell you all that my beards were in a commercial! It was for Verizon back around Mother's Day... I don't have a TV, so it somehow slipped my mind. Whoops! Here's a screenshot of it now, though, if you want to watch the whole thing you'll have to go to youtube.

Is anyone else still feeling rosy from Christmas celebrations? I'm going to go take another nap, but here's a great hairy illustration from caballmx on Etsy!

I know I said I was on vacation, but I just had to share these beardy Christmas cards with you all. Sam Coldy designed a series called "The 12 Beards of Christmas" for his holiday cards this year, and each one brings a smile to my face. Two of my favorites are above, but you should certainly check out the rest over here.

I was planning on re-opening the shop today, to accommodate last minute shoppers, but Renegade SF went really well, and there's not all that much left to sell! I'm going to go ahead and keep the shop shuttered until the new year, so I can take a nice long holiday nap. Thanks so much to everyone who reads this blog, has bought something from my beard shop, or has come out to meet me at the craft fairs this year! 2010 wouldn't have been the same without you.

Thursday, December 16, 2010

I've been working day and night to get all those last minute Etsy orders packed and out the door, but I wanted to take a tiny break to remind all you San Francisco readers that I'll be selling my wares this weekend at the Renegade Holiday Craft Fair at the Concourse Exhibition Center’s East Hall (620 7th St.). I've got lots of fun treats for anyone who stops by. Those who have visited me at previous fairs have probably seen the requisite pile of free stickers, but this time I have a little extra special gift I'll be throwing in with purchases over $10. FUN! See you this weekend!

Some of the new postcards I printed last week! I'm loving my new tabletop press. I have so many new projects I want to print on it, but never enough time to do so... better sew like crazy today so I can get a little time on the press later.

For those of you attending the Renegade SF Holiday Fair this weekend, I'll be bringing lots of these cards, and selling them for a very reasonable $2 each. The rest of you will find them in my shop soon!

Another awesome piece from Timber Preservation Society!

Power and Light Press's "Beard Love" card has always been a favorite ($5)

Great moustache on this tea towel from Darling Clementine. ($15)

Get a maximum dose of beard with this shirt from Chop Shop, that crams in 141 famous beards into one design! ($25)

This moustache magnet from The Small Object will make your fridge photos 100% more funny. ($6)

There's something both compelling and creepy about these beardos, drawn by Malarko.

Timber Preservation Society consistently has some of the best beardy artwork around. I can't believe this guy's bulky beard can be balanced on a bike! (try saying that five times fast!)

Tuesday, December 7, 2010

Finished the "Beard Love" print this weekend! I'm pretty happy with the results, although I wish I made more of the colorful version! You can get yourself a print in the shop!

"Magical Beard" by Javier López.

Beard anatomy illustration by Kyle Wilson. What a great imagination this guy must have, the beard has a tiny ribcage!!

New work from Sam Caldwell!

Friday, December 3, 2010

A great illustration by Evgenia Barinova titled "to beard, or not to beard?" The answer is always BEARD, my friends.

What I'm working on

Thought you might like to see what I am working on this morning. Lots of sewing and packing up orders, but I love to take a break and work on a new print! For those of you not familiar with printmaking processes, I am busy hand carving a block of linoleum which I will later hand ink and print on my little tabletop printing press. It has been a while since I've printed a reduction linocut, so hopefully I'll be able to show you a nice new two-color print sometime next week.

Marc Johns never fails to amuse me.

Back to your regularly scheduled beardy programming.

After a month of moustaches, let's get back to beards. Here's one from Kirsten Rothbart.
