Look at these lovely beardy fellows! Illustrations by Cristóbal Schmal, and borrowed from his flickr page.

Purple, tan and blue beards to be added to the shop later today. Fun!

I am well aware of how blurry and generally blah this photo is (anyone have camera recommendations? I am in the market for a new one, obvs.), but check out this new style of beard! So pointy! So long! I'm pretty excited about it. I'd offer it to you, but it's already been grabbed up. I've got a similar one waiting to be added to the shop, though, so keep an eye out for that if you've been looking for that little something special for your sweetheart. Valentine's Day is coming up, you know!

I posted about this waaaaay back in 2008, but it's worth a second look. Science is a beautiful thing, and this experiment combines two of my favorite things :)

vintage beard

(LlGC ~ NLW)
I was looking through The Commons on Flickr this evening, and I realized that you can search by tag! Here are some of the beardos I found by searching for the tag "beard."

Another wonderful beardo illustration from Olaf Hajek.

I wonder what this nice beardo is saying to the bird. Print by allicoate on etsy.

Looks like Tugboat Printshop is in the process of making an excellent beard print. Any other printmaking nerds out there? I love seeing process shots like this, it really gives you a sense of how much work goes into handmade prints.

I may have mentioned Hair'em Scare'em a while back, but after receiving my copy from Gestalten, I somehow managed to forget to post photos. What's wrong with me?? It really is a fantastic book, full of an incredible amount of hair related art, and it's the first time my beards have been featured in a book! Fun!

There I am! Looking silly, as always.

Some of my altered vintage photos were featured, too!

I was featured on the same page as the original, often imitated Beard Caps, made by Vík Prjónsdóttir, and sold here.
Even though she doesn't look that interested, Frida loved this page of posters celebrating the World Beard and Moustache Championships, made by Jason Nitti and Neel Williams.

This page of technicolor beard art was one of my favorites! Look, it's that poster by Mike Buchino aka Mr. Beard Revue!
But my favorite part of the whole book was this pink bearded fellow, a painting by Olaf Hajek:

You can get a copy for yourself through Powell's and Amazon, of course, but other random shops are selling it, too. Find it at your local independent bookstore if you can! It's also available at Urban Outfitters (who featured me on their blog a while back... lots of love for beardos there, apparently). Also, read the review in Interview Magazine! Beards everywhere!!

Timber Preservation Society
has some really excellent beardy characters on their merch. These beardy twins are supremely excellent, and this t-shirt is on sale in their etsy shop! They used to print this design on wood blocks, but they don't seem to be available anymore.

Nice, right?

More moustache mugs, these ones from Peter Ibruegger. Love the repetition of the product photos, kinda like an old photobooth.
Thanks to Alex for sending in the link!

This beardy dude is wishing you "good luck!" What a guy. Designed by Jordan Metcalf.

Also: since this blog is my little soapbox, I'd love to encourage you to give what you can to help victims of the earthquake in Haiti. SF Gate has put together a list of organizations working in Haiti, complete with links.

Fancy Beards for fancy people

I've been hiding these for a while, waiting for just the right moment to debut them... this seems to be as good a moment as any! I give you... GLITTER BEARDS!

The silver glitter on the white felt is quite subtle, but people are bound to notice that little extra je ne sais quoi. Keep them guessing with a glitter beard!

2010 is the year for looking extra classy, and what better way to up the stakes than with your own glitter beard? Meeting friends or a date at the discotheque? You'll want to bring your glitter beard to win them over.

I've been looking for more colors of this glitter felt, I'm hoping to have some blue, green, and pink glitter beards later this month.

I've got more fancy beards on the way, so keep your eyes peeled!

Found this earlier this morning. Karen Kurycki seems to understand the appeal of a well grown moustache. Not sure if her illustration is for sale, though.

Not sure if these are just mock-ups, but I think these shaving creams have some excellent packaging! Very clever. Designed by Omar Tehawkho.

These beardy magnets are KILLING ME DEAD. These little dudes would do a great job holding recipes onto your fridge, don't you think? Available in Jordan Grace Owens Etsy shop, hollandsworth.

Loving this strange painting by Mitchell Kehe... doesn't the beardless man look sad?

A new year, a new beard.

It's 2010! Crazy! Hope you are all enjoying the beginnings of what may very well be the best year ever. My sewing machine somehow got out of alignment this weekend, so I'm just now getting started on the projects I wanted to finish earlier this week... ugh. I hate starting off a new year feeling behind already. At least I have lots of time to catch up!

Pictured above is a baby beard in progress. I absolutely love the yarn, which came from Spincycle Yarns in Bellingham!
