Not much to report from beardy headquarters. I have been slow to take photos of the new styles of beards that I'll be bringing to Renegade in LA and SF, but believe you me, there will be some fun to be had. Some crazy huge beards that would be worthy of display on your mantle, and some more practical new beards which will be great once the blustery winds of the autumn return.
Annnnnyway. Above is a lovely illustration by Laura George, who has made other fantastic beardy art that I've featured in the past! What a talented lady!

Beardos.

So, I haven't heard back from Jack to find out what he thinks of this, but I have been dying to show you what I made last weekend.

The first in what will become a series of Championship Beards, I give you my ode to Jack Passion, one of USA's finest beard growers. I want to make a whole series of beards based on members of Beard Team USA, as well as other beards from history which I deem "winning beards". I'm thinking of making a reproduction of that guy I posted a photo of a while back, the one with the cat coming out of his world record sized beard.
And yes, I realize how insanely nerdy this is. I do it all for you, my lovely beardos!

I have a beard I am just dying to show you, but until then, here's a quite fantastic beardy fellow I found in ward zwart's flickr! Very cool.

While these are both quite dudely beardos, the two illustrations above perfectly express the events of my day. Way to go, Simon Peplow, for accidentally illustrating my life, albeit through characters who look nothing like me...

I'm on the Urban Outfitters blog today. For some reason this strikes me as really funny. Also, if you narrow down the posts to things having to do with Portland, I am featured right next to The Gossip. Anything that puts me close to Beth Ditto is OK with me.

I've been working on making some simpler beards lately. I wanted to find a way to make a beard that is quicker to make, but still fun to wear. This is what I came up with! Less showy, but gets the point across! Perfect for all you utilitarians who just need a nice, even patch of fake facial hair to get the job done.

I finally joined Flickr. I feel like I'm really late to the party on this one, but it seemed like the best way to gather photos of all of my beards, without building an actual website (...like I even know how to do that).

So, yeah. Feel free to go see all the beards types I've made over on my beardy flickr page. I'll be adding a lot of new stuff this week, but I'll be talking about it here, too, so don't feel left out.

Flickr is a pretty magical place, though... look at these amazing bearded fellows I found in Anton Abo's Flickr photos:

Ok, so this last guy isn't exactly bearded, but his hairstyle makes me want to start designing wigs to go with my beards.

I can't believe it took me so long to make a beard that closely matches my hair. I guess I was under some delusion that my hair is darker than it really is. Mousy brown beard owners unite!

Made this new type of beard last week! Still unsure how I feel about it, but I think I'll make a few more before I make any decisions. I've got a few other new beards I want to show you, but I have yet to photograph them. I've been sewing up a storm for Renegade, so forgive me if my posts are all over the place recently.

Winning beard!

Remember that beard giveaway I did a while back? Well, here's a photo of the winner, sporting her dream beard! Awesome!

Bored this weekend? I'd recommend checking out Growin' A Beard, a great beardy film! I watched this several years ago, after spying it on Netflix, and was pleasantly surprised how fascinating it was. There's more to it than just beard growin', so don't be put off by the idea of two hours of watching a dude's beard grow out :)

summer summer summer time

Finally finished taking photos of some new summer beards. They're bright, cheerful... everything I want my summer to be this year.

Hope you like them! More to come very soon.

I have a lot of new work I want to show you, but I haven't had time to take photos yet! For now, enjoy this shirt, which pictures the French painter Jean-François Millet! What a beard he had! You can buy the shirt from James Anthony Apparel on Etsy.

ps: Have I shown you this shirt? It makes me laugh every time. Oh Dali...

Available from Vortex Trading Company on Etsy.
A charming man, drawn by Lauren Nassef!
