While this is certainly one of the most unruly beards I have seen (it is taking over his entire head!), it makes for a hilarious sweatshirt. Made by Species by the Thousands.

whoa.

This is amazing. The instructions are even better:
"Step 1) Start w/fresh espresso. Pull a shot.
Step 2) Steam milk
Step 3) Get Specialized Design Degree from RISD
Step 4) Gently pour milk into cup w/finesse after banging it on the counter a little bit
Step 5) Pour man with beard
Step 6) Find man with beard to hold latte man with beard, take a photo
Step 7) Drink Man with Beard Latte"
Found in Gwen Bell's Flickr! Here's the video, for all of you aspiring RISD grads!

beard hats

I've seen a lot of inexpensive copies of this design pop up over the last year, but I've gotta say, I'm still coveting the original beard hat from Vík Prjónsdóttir.

front page goodness

A couple of my beardy grandmas and grandpas made it to the front page of the Etsy website recently, so I thought I'd share the screen capture from the etsy front page flickr pool (i can't believe someone is diligent enough to update it every day!)

This one was curated by florigander, who makes lovely jewelry. The little owl drawing in the bottom right corner is adorable.

This front page was designed by kathiroussel, also a talented jewelry maker. I love that "tree spirit" sculpture on the right, really cool idea!

Thanks for featuring my work! It's always exciting to see my work surrounded by other talented etsy artist's creations!

beard break

Posting will continue to be a bit light as I finish unpacking all my junk into my new apartment... it's taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r. Please enjoy these awesome beardy things that I found on Etsy, in lieu of new stuff I've made. (bearded man/deer towel by spoiledcaviar)

Found this photo of a lovely bearded gentleman on The Sartorialist's blog. So full of winning elements: that dark dark green coat against that creepy plum wall, haphazard glass handling, and that amazing beard... I dont know quite how to describe it.

New paintings in the shop!

Hey beard fans, long time no see. I added a few new paintings of bearded grandmas and grandpas to my shop. This one is my favorite, even though his hair is a little dark for such an old guy.

Just wanted to mention that my beard was featured as "beard of the week" over at bearduary. You can read my interview here. I love that he paired me with Rodin, one of my favorite bearded artists.

Anyone going to the Beard and Moustache Championships this year? Here's a look at 2007's Championships.

While I know very little about the sport of cricket, I want to share the BBC story on Bill Frindall, "the bearded wonder", who died this week at the age of 69. Certainly a fellow I would have liked to meet. He will be missed.
