So, fyi, it's Moustache May. Is anyone else sick of moustaches getting all the credit?? Think about it: moustaches are lonely little creatures, just sitting there on your upper lip with no one to talk to but your nose (which is full of snot), and your mouth (which is often busy talking to other people). I propose, what's a good moustache without a hefty beard to keep it company?

In the spirit of honoring the beard's dedication to it's faithful companion 'stache, I am doing my first beard giveaway. A custom beard will go to one of you lovely blog readers! Just post a comment telling me what your dream beard looks like (with your name and email!), and on Monday I'll pick a winner at random.

These are some of my favorite beards, for inspiration. Good luck!

My dream beard is a dark dark brown with a a bit a grey hair. Long enough for me to run my fingers through and maybe hide under if I don't want anyone to see me.

The beard of my dream is one of colours so bright, a rainbow would feel ashamed. With cats leaping out from joy and nestling themselves under your nose and so pure in form that it literally hums the sweetest tune in existence and when you squint your eyes you can see music notes dancing.
I think this is my first time commenting here, but I am a big fan of the beard! When my husband and I were first dating, he shaved his beard off and I wouldn't speak to him till he grew it back.
My dream beard is felt, and I think maybe a royal blue. I've dyed my hair almost every color in the rainbow but it was never blue and that makes me sad.
my dream beard would be full and round and shaggy and dark brown. and it would have a little hollow in it where i would stash my snacks.
My dream beard looks like moss and has a birds nest living in it.

I like a short, stubbly beard rather than a long bushy one. I like a man who looks likes he just doesnt give a shit!

my beard would be blackbeard's beard - he used to tie matches to it with red ribbons, then light them on fire when he went into battle. It would be long and thick and fierce.

My dream beard is so full that someone could lose their keys in it, or they would at least be able to get the ultimate satisfying grip on my chin-shag and drag me effectively around by it if they felt so inclined. it's rounded at the bottom, not pointy, and long enough that my neck almost disappears. as to the color, I think maybe a nice robins egg blue, or a split-pea green. :)
My dream beard is dark brown and flows to my chest. It's felt, thick and warm enough to house baby birds, which I would obviously keep in my beard. They'd pop out at random intervals of the day and I'd feed them wormies. When it's cold; I'd cuddle up to my warm beard and laugh at my boyfriend for his being so lame in comparison.

my dream beard would be deep purple and yarny :)my bf started the jacksonville, fl chapter of beard team usa (www.jaxbeard.com) & we have "fake facial hair" competitions for girls. i would totally win with one of your awesome beards!
My dream beard is for my evil twin so our mutual friends can tell us apart.
eg. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evil_twin#The_goatee
my dream beard is bright red and a scalloped, cartoony shape with a handlebar moustache. this way i have a disguise and my fella (known as Redbeard) and i can fight crimes and make mischief.

My dream beard is inspired by Rainbow Fish's shiny purple, blue, green, and silver scales. It's hobbies would include swimming in the ocean, making lots of friends, sharing with everyone, and saving the day.
I wanted to share but don't want to be considered for the contest as I would love to pay big dollars when you do decide to make my dream beard.
LOVE!
oh this is lovely!
my dream beard is ofcourse on my boyfriend, but at first it'd be wrapped in paper because of his birthday! it'd be dark brown and made of soft wool just long enough but not too long... but just long enough to hide a kiss underneath it. we don't have to hide his shirts lol! it has to be a bit shaggy because he's a guitar player and that'd make it more rock 'n roll... and ofcourse i could try it on myself so it'd have to be real comfy and cosy and cuddly too for me! i would love to be able to run my fingers trough my beard while thinking... oh it would just be the perfect bday gift for us both!
i love your beards they're so awesome,

My ideal beard would be black felt with a moustache. It's smart, elegant and intelligent. A dark green felt back would be excellent and maybe with a little pocket on the inside for my lucky ring and a little baggie of marijuana
:)

dark brown, muttonchops that connect to a mustache, leaving a bare chin. Had it myself until i shave everything the other day ;P

I wouldn't say that my boyfriend has the perfect beard, but if I could, I would have one like his; thick, unruly (it grows up to his under his eyes!), brown, with a generous sprinkling of red.
I would want a beard like that, but made out of yarn so it's softer to nuzzle with.

I love your beards! If I could have a beard I would want a felt one in a subtle color like charcoal grey (with a traditional mustache) although I am also partial to the salt and pepper look (not to be confused with Salt-n-Pepa).

Oh Erin this is the best thing ever.
My dream beard would probably match my hair; ie, red and curly.

My dream beard is very trim to the face and very very soft. Just enough to tickle.
i just found your blog... how hilarious & creative!
i love red beards. long and shaggy is good... b/c it has the option to be trimmed to shorter. i like options.

I love your beards and would love to have one for my beardless face!!
Love the beards! My dream beard would be brown shaggy, yarn beard. whatthescrap@yahoo.com

my dream beard is big and grey and pointy and i can shape it to fit my moods... sometimes it would curl up on the ends when i'm happy, and sometimes it would point straight out like daggers when i'm angry. and it would be attached to a similar stache for the full affect. oh yes, i've thought about this dream beard before... can you tell?
My dream beard is short and dark brown! love the felt ones
omg those are super cute love the yellow!
ooohh, I would LOVE this :) My favorite beard is your lumberjack beard. I would love something rugged and hearty :) I like the dark brown, since it matches my hair.
Thanks for the opportunity!
Kath
My dream beard is strawberry blonde, nice, full, soft and long. It would rival my husbands who gives even the most grizzled of men pangs of envy. And once i have it I would wear it always.
I love your beards, and that you love beards.
Being 24 I should be in a position to grow an beard of my own. But due to bad genes on my dad’s part I can only achieve patchy stubble. I dream of a long blonde fisherman’s beard that I can walk into my local pub and feel like a real man!!
hurude@gmail.com
i'm more a moustache girl (there are several photographs of me online fashioning a moustache) but my dream beard would be long and soft. it would be strokeable and look like it has always been there. it would help me feel more confident and wiser. my dream beard would make heads turn and it would make me all warm and fuzzy both inside and outside.

Hmmm... my dream beard would be a cloud; white as snow, fluffy like cotton candy and sooo soft. It would hang down to my belt and house a tiny blue finch who I would name Peeper.

My dream beard is thick and gray - evidence of many decades of cultivation and care. Experience is woven into the very yarn, mystery hidden in its depths. The beard stretches from ear to ear, covering every portion of the face that is socially acceptable for a beard to do, but it is kept trimmed and tidy beneath the chin.
All in all, it is an inspiring beard.

When I was a little girl I would dream about the long grey distinguished looking beard I would have when I became an old man. One that I could stroke when I was thinking, sculpt into cool shapes, and hide candy in for kids. But as I grew older I came to the realization that I was to grow into an old lady (no beard in sight). That was a sad day, as all the men in my family have beards, and I wanted one too!
But, perhaps, it's not a dream. Maybe, one day I will have the fantastic beard!
My dream beard is coloured like a spicy rack: cumin, cinnamon, paprika, onion powber, and a touch of salt and pepper. Long and full enough to stroke and ponder. Soft enough to snuggle up against my loved ones.
dream beard... made of Bob Dylan's cigarette smoke, something like a plume sprouting from my jaw. wise and flippant.

I have a small goatee but I often feel the need for a much larger full face beard. Those attempts at growing a full beard have been pathetic. So my perfect beard would be full neck length and a dirty blond color with hints of red and rust. This way I could stay fashionable warm in the frigid Minnesota winter while I wink at gawkers as they admire my sexy full bread.

My dream beard is fluffy and brown like my head hair. Women and men would want me and women and men would want to be me. My dream beard would help me write a song that makes Israel and Palestine get along.
My dream beard would be a curly, bushy affair, and look like it was woven from Tom Jones' chest hair and the glowing, silvery pubes of angels.
My dream beard would be black as the night and silky yet substantial; lush enough to run my fingers through thoughtfully or to tuck small snacks or gifts in for my dearest friends. It hugs my face like the warm embrace of a proud parent in a fabric softener commercial. And my face hugs it back.

My dream beard is Grizzly Adams all the way. Big, long, round, lush, streaked with grey, smelling of woodsmoke. It's the kind of beard you could just hug.

P.S. I love your beards and your blog.
My dream beard would grow hands, which would become prehensile and drink my coffee for me. That is all.

My dream beard would be shaggy, of varying lengths, and a sensible brown color with a tiny little birdhouse perched upon by a red robin.
My dream beard is dark brown and thick. It most definitely doesn't crawl upwards towards my eyes, rather it stays where it is needed. It's warm and fuzzy and makes everyone love me even more than they already do. Old ladies swoon when I walk by. So do old men.
My dream beard would be a teal felt beard, with just a hint of curly mustache.
I keep telling people about this website, but they all look at me like I'm weird...

My dream beard would be different shades of green so it looked like a forest. It would be good camouflage when i go camping in the woods.

Hmm I'm thinking that my dream beard would contain a villainous
'stache (like the one in the third pic) and a long, thick, black, pointed beard... think Rasputin-esque.
My beard would be that of an old philosopher. All white, wise and knowing with sprinklings of magical philosophical insights and colors. Still playful, but known to all to have the proper experience due such a beard.
People would listen to a beard like that. :}
-Carrie
my dream beard would be dark and look good when im standing right side up. but if i was walking on my hands my dream beard would look my hair and my hair would look like my dream beard.

My dream beard is violet. It rustles in the spring breeze and would probably tickle my neck and cheeks. It will make people wonder what I ate to get such a magnificent color growing from my face. I'd want my beard to smell of fresh baked bread.

My dream beard would be a russet brown with some blonding around and underneath the mouth. It would be topped off, of course, by some heavy whiskers. This was my lover's beard until this weekend, when he shaved it all off in a fit of discomfort. He started growing it when we first met, and had kept it in place since. I struggle to recognize his new face and would love to put this beard on every once in a while to remember our early time together.

OOOhh...
this is a hard one
I think my ideal dream beard would have to be extreme bright green so I can blend in with the trees in my woods and no one would be able to see me because of my lucious green beard. I could hide up in those trees for days.... if only I had a green beard...
My dream beard has a handle bar mustache and a braided mythical beard. How amazing would that be? Half pirate, half merlin... I think that's a recipe for magic.
My dream beard is leafy, with two big leaves for the mustache. Dark green with little vines throughout.
